Session Title: Functional Neuroimaging within Hours and Days after Stroke or Brain Injury
نویسندگان
چکیده
Hemodynamic Changes in Subacute and Acute Poststroke Stages It is important to consider issues related to hemodynamic changes in the hours and days after stroke or brain injury. Acute stroke is an evolving event in which there may be opportunities to intervene over several days following the insult. Dysfunctional regions within the ischemic penumbra may include viable tissue, but how long it will survive without intervention is unknown.

THE EFFECT OF ENDURANCE TRAINING ON GENE EXPRESSION OF NERVE AND FIBROBLAST GROWTH FACTORS IN THE HIPPOCAMPUS OF RATS AFTER BRAIN STROKE
Background & Aims: Neurotrophic and growth factors are known to have positive effects on neuronal proliferation. However, findings on the effects of exercise training on these factors following brain stroke are limited. Thus, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of endurance training on gene expression of nerve growth factor (NGF) and fibroblast growth factor (FGF) in the ...
متن کاملProtective Effect of Delayed Ischemic Postconditioning on Embolic Stroke Complications in Female Rat
Background & Aims: Ischemic postconditioning, conducted by a series of brief occlusion and release of the bilateral common carotid arteries, has neuroprotective properties in permanent or transient models of middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion but its delayed neuroprotective effects in the embolic model of stroke, especially in female rat, have not yet been reported and were investigated ...
متن کاملResponse to Letter Regarding Article, "Matrix Metalloprotease 3 Exacerbates Hemorrhagic Transformation and Worsens Functional Outcomes in Hyperglycemic Stroke".
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Acute hyperglycemia worsens the clinical outcomes and exacerbates cerebral hemorrhage after stroke. The mediators of hemorrhagic transformation (HT) in hyperglycemic stroke are not fully understood. Matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP3) plays a critical role in the tissue-type plasminogen activator-induced HT. However, the role of MMP3 in exacerbating the HT and worsening the...
متن کاملTraumatic Brain Injury Has Not Prominent Effects on Cardiopulmonary Indices of Rat after 24 Hours: Hemodynamic, Histopathology, and Biochemical Evidence
Background: Accidents are the second reason for mortality and morbidity in Iran. Among them, brain injuries are the most important damage. Clarification of the effects of brain injuries on different body systems will help physicians to prioritize their treatment strategies. In this study, the effect of pure brain trauma on the cardiovascular system and lungs 24 hours post trauma was assessed. M...
متن کاملEarly clinical diagnosis of lacunar strokes.
Early Clinical Diagnosis of Lacunar Strokes To the Editor: Phillips and colleagues1 report the GAIN Americas data to describe the relationships between the OCSP2 and TOAST3 classifications tools, focusing on the accuracy of the OCSP classification in the early diagnosis of a lacunar stroke. The authors classify lacunar syndromes (LS) within 6 hours of stroke onset and conclude that the OCSP cla...
